Volunteer spots are still open for a neighborhood cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 19, in Carlsbad Village, where crews will fan out to pick up litter and debris around Roosevelt Street.

The Carlsbad Village Association (CVA) is partnering with Lily Field Realty to host a local site for I Love A Clean San Diego's (ILACSD) 42nd annual Coastal Cleanup Day. The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will meet at Lily Field Realty, 2965 Roosevelt St., before heading into the surrounding area to collect trash, according to the CVA.

The Carlsbad site is one of roughly 100 locations across San Diego County taking part in the countywide effort, which aims to bring together 5,000 volunteers. Registration opened Sept. 1, and ILACSD said spots remain at sites throughout the county, Coronado News reported.

The CVA said in a Sept. 14 post that volunteer spots at the Carlsbad site remain open and that even a few hours of participation helps.

Coffee, water and light refreshments will be provided at the Sept. 19 cleanup. Prize drawings will run throughout the morning. The site is wheelchair and stroller friendly, and volunteers of all ages are welcome.

Organizers ask participants to bring reusable supplies: work gloves, buckets, trash pickers and reusable water bottles.

Families, coworkers and community groups can all take part. Registration details and a full list of countywide cleanup sites are available on the I Love A Clean San Diego website.
