Tyra Biosciences CEO Todd Harris visits Sage Creek High School on Wednesday, Sept. 23, for a student career chat on biotechnology.

The one-hour session runs from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. in the school library at 3900 Bobcat Blvd., according to the school's announcement. Registration is required. The SCHS Parent Teacher Student Association is providing food.

Harris co-founded and leads Tyra Biosciences, a clinical-stage company developing precision medicines that target Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor (FGFR) biology. The company is headquartered on State Street in Carlsbad and trades on Nasdaq under the ticker TYRA. In an Aug. 4 earnings release, Harris said the company was preparing to share initial clinical data from a drug candidate targeting bladder cancer.

The school's announcement describes Harris as a "biotech industry leader." He also co-founded Sienna Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. and sits on the board of directors at Scithera, per the event listing.

His academic path crossed three universities: a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Brigham Young University, a master's in bioengineering from UC San Diego and a doctorate in medical engineering and medical physics from MIT.

The talk fits Sage Creek's academic profile. The school offers a Biomedical Science pathway as one of its signature programs, alongside tracks in engineering, computer science and digital photography, according to the school's accreditation materials.

Wednesday's biotech chat is the first event in the 2026-27 CUSD Life Skills Workshops and Career Chats series at Sage Creek. The schedule lists a Financial Literacy workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 14, a Police Career Chat on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and a Medical Career Chat on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2027, among other sessions running through March.
