Sage Creek junior Madeleine Redmond owns the highest hitting percentage of any high school volleyball player in California.
Redmond tops the statewide MaxPreps leaderboard at .552, according to data updated Monday, Oct. 19. Ventura senior Mia Howard sits second at .548, and Summit junior Kailynn Jackson of Fontana is third at .500. Only three players in the state reach that mark.
Redmond is also the Bobcats' most productive attacker. She leads the team with 323 kills and 3.0 kills per set, according to Sage Creek's MaxPreps stats page. She has recorded 85 total blocks, more than double the next Bobcat on the list, senior McKenna Rauch with 34.
Hitting percentage measures how efficiently a hitter converts swings into kills minus errors. Redmond's .552 means she puts the ball away on more than half her attempts after subtracting hitting errors.
The Bobcats carry a 32-10 overall record and a 4-3 mark in league play, good for third place, according to MaxPreps. Sage Creek is ranked No. 1 in CIF San Diego Section Division II and No. 12 in the section overall. The Bobcats are 6-0 in non-league matches and have won 78 sets against 32 lost on the season.
Redmond is far from a one-player show. Senior Hadleigh-rose Haggerty anchors the back row with a team-best 334 digs and 4.1 digs per set, while sophomore Adrianna Ta runs the offense with 521 assists and sophomore Melissa Kindelan leads the squad with 62 serving aces.
Head coach D. Savage's squad hosts Mission Hills of San Marcos in a non-league match at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21. The Grizzlies enter at 12-16. Sage Creek swept Mission Hills 3-0 when the teams met Oct. 2.
