Sage Creek High School's Multimedia Journalism program needs donations by Friday, Sept. 18, to send students to the 2027 Student Television Network convention in Long Beach. The two-week fundraising drive covers convention costs for families who cannot afford the trip.

The program is collecting tax-deductible contributions through the Sage Creek Foundation's STN Scholarship Fund, a Carlsbad nonprofit that processes donations on behalf of the school. The fund's goal is to make sure no student is left out of the national broadcast journalism convention because of cost.

The previous drive raised more than $2,000 in two weeks and fully covered one student's convention expenses, according to the program's fundraising appeal posted on the school's website Sept. 13. The program said it hopes to send more students through the current drive.

The effort is part of a broader push to get Sage Creek journalism students to the 2027 convention. A May 2026 showcase event also directed all of its revenue toward covering convention costs for every student in the program. Specific convention dates have not been announced.

The appeal, addressed to "Bobcat families and friends," emphasized that even small donations help. The program said contributions go directly toward families who otherwise could not afford to send their children with the class.

Donations are open through Friday, Sept. 18, at sagecreekfoundation.org.
