More than 150 fine artists will line Armada Drive above the Carlsbad Flower Fields on Sept. 19 and 20 for the seventh annual ArtWalk Carlsbad.
Admission is free.
The outdoor festival features painting, sculpture, glass work, photography and fine jewelry from artists traveling from across San Diego County, the United States and Mexico, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Attendees can buy work directly from the artists.
"With some of the best views in the county, ArtWalk Carlsbad offers an outdoor art lovers experience unlike any other," Curt Brooker, director of ArtWalk San Diego, told Patch.
The festival area is fenced, and attendees 21 and older can enjoy beer and wine while browsing. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. the first day and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the second. Live entertainment and food vendors round out both days.
KidsWalk
Families can head to KidsWalk, a hands-on art area running throughout the weekend. Participants include ArtReach San Diego, the City of Carlsbad Cultural Arts Office, Anvil of Hope, FACE Foundation and LEGOLAND California Resort, which sits next door to the festival grounds and will offer a special discounted admission rate for a future visit.
Proceeds support arts education
ArtWalk San Diego, which produces the Carlsbad festival along with events in San Diego's Little Italy and Liberty Station, directs a portion of proceeds to ArtReach San Diego. The nonprofit provides free or low-cost visual arts lessons to K-8 students in San Diego County, focusing on Title I schools that lack other art education resources.
