Organizers expect more than 1,700 cyclists to pedal through Carlsbad on Saturday, Oct. 24, when the annual Bike the Coast ride returns to the North County coastline.
The event's longer routes of 25, 50 and 100 miles follow historic Highway 101 through Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach and Del Mar. All riders finish at the Oceanside Pier. Shorter 7- and 15-mile family rides follow the San Luis Rey River Trail.
A Visit Oceanside report found the 2025 edition of Bike the Coast generated an estimated $700,000 in regional economic impact, as first reported by the North County Daily Star. Of that total, more than $402,000 went directly into the Oceanside economy. The remaining $284,000 in indirect impact spread across the broader region.
The report also found the event supports more than 372 jobs, with the strongest effects in food and beverage, retail and lodging.
"Already, we're able to see the major impact it has on the local business community through our engagement with them and in this new report from Visit Oceanside," Mike Bone, president and CEO of event producer Spectrum Sports Management, said in a statement.
Bike the Coast also raised more than $10,000 for Bike MS in 2025, which the organizer called a record after three years of partnering with the organization. Proceeds from a beer garden hosted by BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse at the finish line festival will again benefit Bike MS.
The festival is free.
It takes place at the Oceanside Pier and is open to the public, with local vendors, performers and food trucks. Every registered rider receives a finisher medal, a rider gift and a $10 food voucher.
Registration is open at BikeTheCoastSD.com. Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes are permitted; Class 3 e-bikes are not. Riders must be at least 16 years old and wear a helmet. Entries are non-refundable, and no transfers are allowed after Friday, Oct. 23.
