Artists can apply to show their work at the 29th Annual Art in the Village, set for Sunday, June 27, 2027, in downtown Carlsbad.

The Carlsbad Village Association announced the call for artists for the free, open-air show, which runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The juried event has filled downtown with fine art every summer since 1998.

Applications are open through ZAPP, the online jurying platform. According to the ZAPP listing, an early-bird application fee of $30 applies through Jan. 15, 2027. The fee rises to $40 on Jan. 16, 2027.

The association is accepting work in ceramics, digital art, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and wood.

Last year's 28th annual event, held June 28, 2026, drew thousands of visitors to more than 160 artist booths spread across five downtown blocks along State Street and Grand Avenue. The 2025 edition featured over 150 artists.

Carlsbad muralist Taylor Gallegos, who painted a live mural on State Street during the June 2026 event, described his approach to the Carlsbad Village Association that month. "I love to let the art itself be an active collaborator in the overall direction it ends up going," Gallegos said.

No final application deadline has been posted. Artists can contact the Carlsbad Village Association at [email protected] or (760) 453-7076 for details.
