Carlsbad is accepting applications for two open seats on its Arts Commission. The deadline is noon on Sept. 30.

The seven-member commission advises the City Council on arts and culture matters and helps implement the arts section of the city's General Plan. Its duties include recommending acquisitions of public artwork, supporting arts programming and serving as a forum for arts-related concerns, according to the city's Arts Commission page.

The mayor appoints commission members with City Council approval. Standard terms run four years, but the two current openings are unscheduled vacancies with terms running through March 2028, Patch reported. The city has not said why the seats became vacant.

The commission meets the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, according to the city's website.
