Carlsbad High's varsity girls flag football team beat crosstown rival Sage Creek 48-12 on Wednesday, Aug. 26, according to MaxPreps.

The non-conference game kicked off at 5:30 p.m. at Sage Creek's field on Bobcat Boulevard. The 36-point margin gave the Lancers a lopsided win in the annual crosstown matchup between two schools separated by less than three miles.

Carlsbad entered the game coming off a 35-19 loss to Bonita Vista the previous week. Sage Creek was also looking for its first win after falling to Santa Fe Christian 38-6 earlier in the season, a game in which SFC's Winslow Lanihan threw for 300 yards and five touchdowns, according to The Vista Press.

Only one team found an answer. Carlsbad put up 48 points against a Bobcats squad that had already surrendered 38 in its prior outing.

The Lancers carried an 18-player roster spanning all four class years for the game. Individual statistics and scoring breakdowns were not available as of publication.

MaxPreps photographer Rudy Schmoke documented the rivalry game with a 116-photo gallery.

Carlsbad hosts Steele Canyon on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 5:15 p.m. Sage Creek's next game date was not available as of publication.
