Callaway Golf staffer Yuna Nishimura won her first LPGA Tour title Sunday, Sept. 27, carrying clubs made at the company's Carlsbad headquarters.

Nishimura cruised to a five-shot victory at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Arkansas. She finished at 21-under-par 192, firing back-to-back rounds of 63 before closing with a 66, and earned the $450,000 winner's share of the $3 million purse, Golf News Net reported.

It was her first win on the American tour.

The victory is a high-profile showcase for Callaway Golf Company (NYSE: CALY), headquartered at 2180 Rutherford Road in Carlsbad. The company completed a corporate rebrand from Topgolf Callaway Brands in January.

A key club in Nishimura's bag was the Quantum Mini Spinner 7-wood, a fairway wood she helped inspire. According to Callaway's media release, Nishimura brought the company's design team a specific problem: she needed more spin and a steeper landing angle than her standard fairway woods provided on approaches into par-4s and par-3s. The collaboration produced a club that added 600 to 700 rpm of spin to her shots, Callaway said.

Nishimura hit more than 92% of fairways for the week and tied the tournament scoring record, according to Callaway. She also used a new Odyssey prototype mallet putter during the final round.

"I was a little disappointed on the 13th, but overall I was kind of relieved by it," Nishimura said through an interpreter after her second round Saturday, Sept. 26, according to Golf Channel. "Not too much pressure on myself and it worked out."

A six-time winner on the Japan LPGA, Nishimura had never won on American soil. Aki Iwai, Chanettee Wannasaen and In Gee Chun tied for second at 16-under 197.

The win earned Nishimura 500 points in the Race to the CME Globe. The top 60 players in points after The Annika in November qualify for the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship.

The LPGA Tour continues with the Lotte Championship in Hawaii.
